On May 12, 1998, the Hamburg Regional Court (Landgericht Hamburg) ruled under case no. 312 O 85/98 – "Liability for Links" that by placing a link, one may be responsible for the content of the linked page. According to the court, this can only be prevented by explicitly distancing oneself from these contents.
